Maryland State Trooper Barracks

Maryland State Troopers have proudly served the citizens of Cecil County since 1921. These dedicated Troopers are commonly referred to as "Marylands Finest" for good reason. Their commitment to duty, professionalism in every circumstance, and service to our state is second to none. They have given so much to this community and some have even paid the ultimate sacrifice. The commitment of these fine men and women makes this community a safer and better place to live. The Maryland Troopers Association Lodge XV is proud to represent these Troopers and, as always, we appreciate your support. MTA Lodge XV is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity organization.

2010 Lanzi Scholarship Awarded
November 20, 2009

This year’s Lanzi scholarship recipient is Andrew Fetterolf.  He is an Elkton High graduate, majoring in law enforcement and captain of the men’s soccer team here at Cecil.  Below is language from Andrew’s application.   We are certain you will be as moved as we were.

For the longest time I have always wanted to be involved in a career field that I could not just better myself but better the lives of other people in my community and my country. After evaluating some career fields and taking some different classes I found that my calling was in law enforcement. Through taking the classes that I have completed thus far at Cecil College, I have found that [law enforcement]  is a very demanding but exciting and fulfilling career and that there is no doubt in my mind that this is what I want to do when I graduate from college  and that Cecil has helped me discover that.

I have transferred from two other schools in the past and was not happy at either one but Cecil College has been a pleasant experience and helped me get my foot in the door and progress in the process to get my career started. I have already narrowed my search down to two schools to continue my four year degree and hope to get in to the US Marshals internship program through one of these schools and without Cecil College none of this would have been possible. I was also a member and captain of the Men's Soccer Team here at Cecil College this year which has taught me so much and has been a great experience and I will be back again playing this fall.

In my spare time I also like to help out around my community through my church, Elkton United Methodist Church; and through coaching youth soccer. I am applying for a scholarship because I feel that it will help me get through my final semester coming up in the fall at Cecil College so that I can graduate and move on to get my 4 year degree and get in to the internship with the US Marshals. I have thus far been in great academic standing and will continue to do so in my last semester at Cecil.

Like many others that are applying, money is tight right now and this scholarship would help me pay for the rest of my schooling here at Cecil College. I understand that many have applied and that many others like myself are faced with tough times financially but I think that I have a passion and drive towards my career and my goal of helping others that will set me above the rest of the pack and would ask that you strongly consider my application for this scholarship.

I will look for your reply.

Andrew Fetterolf
